My grandson Ayrton Vergara was only 4.5 years old when his family decided to get him piano lessons. His father found him by chance via the internet and Shahin has been a blessing to the entire family. Shahin is a young talented musician with an intuitive nature who was able to get our young son to learn music in a focused manner; to sing with rhythm; to learn and love numbers through counting; and to learn how to read music.
 
Our son is now 6 years old and only takes lessons on weekends and in spite of not being able to practice daily; he continues to progress under Shahin. Shahin motivates him to learn, memorize pieces, to follow instructions and in this matter is teaching him discipline. Irrespective of the mood Ayrton is in Shahin finds a way to turn him around and enjoy each and every lesson. Ayrton has musical happiness and feels like he is accomplishing something substantive because of Shahin.

I called San Jose Piano Lessons looking to become better at sight reading and music theory, having been a self-taught classical pianist for years prior. I was stunned at the genuine interest Niko had for making me a better reader and theorist, as opposed to the other teacher I had for a few months before who just wanted to hear me play my songs and only taught me how to improve my expression. Even though I will gladly play the songs I've taught myself for the whole lesson, Niko pushed me to identify sounds of chords and identify notation, as well as music theory. Niko also took the time to research sheet music I needed and email it to me to practice. The amount of professionalism you have matches the amount I've improved - a lot! As an advanced player, I highly appreciate Niko's ability to work with not just younger people and beginners.

Shahin has been great with my two boys! (Ages 5 and 7 when they started). He's very patient and keeps them on task - and has really helped bring out their love of music! All my younger son wants to do all day is play the piano now!

Niko's calm, gentle way of teaching me how to play the piano made taking lessons fun and enjoyable. The way he explains concepts, such as note reading and counting the rhythm made it easy for me to learn. I like that he is patient with me and goes at my speed yet still encourages me to challenge myself. Highly recommended!

My 6 yr old daughter is currently taking piano lessons from Shahin. He is a great teacher. He explains things very clearly and with lot of patience. Very knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

Mr. Malek helped my son tremendously, both in music and in life.  On top of making my son a great pianist, I've also noticed my son doing better in school, staying more focused on work at home, and being more comfortable in social situations, where he used to have issues. Matthew can even play in front of people without getting anxious, which is something I didn't expect from him for a long time. Mr. Malek's piano lessons have helped mold my son into a well-rounded, talented, and harder working young man. Of all the music teachers my son has had, Mr. Malek is by far the most considerate and effective.
